Meridian Street Preschool Cooperative

Children, Parents and Teachers - GROWING TOGETHER

Our Philosophy
The Meridian Street Preschool Cooperative operates with the understanding that children and parents learn together through play.

Play is the work of children.  The child's school day is balanced between free time and more structured activities such as songs, stories, show and tell, and snack.

During free play children are allowed and encouraged to move freely from one activity or play area to another as they wish.  They decide whether to play indoors or outside.

Reading and playing on Pajama Day

Our preschool provides a wide range of play areas and activities from which the children may choose during free-play time each day.

By offering choices, we recognize the uniqueness of each child and his special interests and needs at any particular time. This freedom of choice fosters the complete development of the child.

Sharing a puzzle

By regulary dedicating their time in the classoom, our parents choose to play an integral role in their child's early education.

At
Meridian Street Preschool Cooperative, we are growing together.

"I think one of the greatest advances to child care was the creation of the NAEYC Accreditation system, which has helped so much to raise the quality of programs." T. Berry Brazelton, M.D. , The Brazelton Institute Children's Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School

"The primary gauge of quality has been accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children… whose seal of approval is regarded as the gold standard by parents, educators and facilities." -
The Wall Street Journal, March 24, 2006
